SAILING FOUNDATION’S
NEW PRESIDENT

On February 10th, 2005, The Sailing Foundation announced appointment of its new President, Tad Lhamon of Bainbridge Island.

Tad has had an extensive sailing career, from the modest El Toro to Geary 18’s, Thunderbirds, a double-ender and on to the Alden 44, Lyric, which he sails today.  A particular joy for him has been working with youngsters at Port Madison Yacht Club in El Toro’s and Lasers.  In the late 90s, Tad turned his attention to the world of cruising when he and his wife Joyce took Lyric on the trip of a lifetime, a circumnavigation that encompassed 52,000 miles and 46 countries, over five years.

Tad is a member of the Cruising Club of America, the Ocean Cruising Club (Britain) and the Seven Seas Cruising Association (USA), a member of the Board of the New York based Bonnell Cove Foundation, Port Madison and Seattle Yacht Club and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and commitment to youth as well as safety at sea.  In 2004, Tad returned to the coaching of young sailors at Port Madison and is active with those youngsters today.  The Foundation is fortunate to have a person that is so dedicated to these honorable endeavors to lead us into the future.
